So, I do try to keep my real life problems pretty much to myself, but here’s this. I have a kitten, her name is Leeloo, she’s about 10 months old. She looks like this: Recently she’s been having some health problems. Her back legs started to atrophy, the muscle and weight were just falling off her back half, and she limped everywhere. So I took her in to the vet. They told me she might have feline leukemia. $500 in vet bills later they diagnose her with worms and constipation, after x-rays and all this nonsense. They didn’t give me a check-in date. They called to tell me that she didn’t have leukemia, but I didn’t hear from them again. After a few weeks had passed her legs began to grow worse rather than better, so I called them back up, asking them to double check her blood work for kidney or liver problems. They asked if she was feeling better, and I said no, obviously, since I’m calling to ask for more information. They schedule me an appointment, and send her x-rays to a radiologist. When I bring her in for her appointment on Monday, the vet said, “Yeah, it’s weird we didn’t schedule a check-back, with mobility problems we usually say two or three days. Anyway, the radiologist saw that she has a cracked femur, I missed it the first time around, so we’ll have to operate to remove the bone fragment in the joint.” At no point did they ask if I could schedule for a surgery, they pretty much just took her off and away. I was pretty upset that they hadn’t checked back with me, and now here I was going to pay a bunch more for them to put her under again, take more x-rays, hydrate her, and perform surgery.
So they tell me it’s going to be about $180 for the extra x-rays (at a discount) and everything, and $1000 for the surgery. I had to get my mom to help me out, but thought, well, this is okay, she’ll get better. So Tuesday morning I get a call saying she’s doing fine. Then later that day the vet calls me again. “I told them to tell you she was doing alright. I went in to perform the surgery today, and realized I didn’t have all the tools I needed. So I had to close the incision, and bring her out of anesthesia and we’re gonna try again tomorrow.” So they put her under, cut her open, pulled back the muscle only to realize they didn’t have the correct implements, and closed her back up again. Putting pets under anesthesia, especially small ones like Leeloo, who’s only 6lbs is risky, to do it twice in two days is appalling.
They called me up Thursday morning to come pick her up. When I got there they gave me her cone, and said they couldn’t put it on her, because she was so aggressive. They said to put it on when I got her home, and leave it on until the stitches came out. So I get her home, but the cut on her side is an open wound, you could see the muscle. I detected no stitches or even marks when stitches would have gone, and certainly no bleeding like Leeloo had pulled them out.
So I called them up again, and the receptionist said to bring her back in. The vet said she must have pulled the stitches out herself, but why the fuck didn’t they put a cone on her themselves before they gave her to me so she wouldn’t have the chance to do that?! So I’m getting pretty pissed, because this clinic is appearing more and more incompetent. They staple her wounds up, and ask if I want to pay my bill while I’m in. I agree. The receptionist tells me I owe $400. I stop, and can’t imagine why the hell it’s so high, and I panic because it’s more than I have, and I pay $200, then head home. In a state of near hysteria I call up my mom, asking what I should do. She says to call them and ask about extra charges. So I call, but she called first, and it turned out that they were fucking up the credit from my mom’s card, and the receptionist told my mom straight up that they often mixed up billing and payment information. So they refunded my $200. And then the next morning I get a call from them asking if I was bringing her in to replace her stitches. I said they had already handled that matter yesterday, and she got embarrassed and hung up. In vet bills, I’m up to $1700 with everything, much of which could have been avoided if they’d been paying attention the first time. Stay away from the Bellingham Cat Clinic!
On another note, since money is now very tight, I’m taking commissions at the moment. Small pieces like
for $10 as a “help me eat while I pay off these vet bills” fund.
If you can’t commission me at the moment, I’d love just a signal boost, so that people know to avoid that clinic.
If anyone wants to donate, or commission me, my paypal email is email@example.com

This is my shitty example.
